Have you ever thought about your purpose in life? Why are you even on this planet? I have often thought my purpose was to just exist. Ha! It's sometimes difficult to find purpose in the midst of struggles or slumps in your daily life. We can get wrapped up in daily routine and minimize the fact that we all have a very specific purpose.
The number one purpose we all have is living to glorify God in what HE wants for our lives. He has planned each detail of our lives to further His Kingdom. "I call to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me." Psalms 57:2 HCSB. "Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny." Ecclesiastes 6:10 NLT
In that purpose and in His plans, God has given us each a very special role. He gave us each a spiritual gift that He expects us to use for His good. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 HCSB says, "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice ; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have."
God knew when He handed out these gifts which gift best fit each person. He also knew where to place each person to best use the gifts given. We are all strategically placed in order for God's plan to be completed.
When we figure out which gift or gifts we have, maybe He trusted you with more than one, it's very important to make use of them. God's plans will not change if we don't tap into the gift but it may be a tougher road to travel as we head toward the finish line. I, personally, like the road with less bumps and pot holes. It's too bad I didn't find that route a long time ago. (Deep regretful sigh but moving forward)
God wants us to have an abundant, joyful life. If He didn't, He would not give gifts. But what's the point in getting gifts if we aren't going to use them and enjoy them? What's your spiritual gift? Wisdom? Knowledge? Faith? Healing? Miracles? Prophecy? Discernment? Speaking in tongues? Translation of the speaking in tongues? Grow close with God and let Him reveal these gifts to you. He wants to use you. Ask Him to reveal the purpose and plan for the gifts given.
